Poker is a card game played by two or more players. It is a game of skill where the object is to win the “pot,” which is the total amount of bets made by all players in any one deal. A player may win the pot by having a high-ranking hand of cards, or by betting heavily and forcing other players to drop out.<\/p>\n
Each round of betting (or “round”) begins when a player, in turn, puts chips into the pot. A player may “call” a bet, which means they put the same number of chips into the pot as the player before them, or they can raise a bet, meaning they bet more than the previous player. A player can also fold, which means they give up their hand and forfeit the chips in their possession.<\/p>\n
Top players often fast play their strong hands, which helps build the pot and chases off other players who are holding a hand that can beat yours. They also use their position to their advantage by observing the way other players reacting and learning from their mistakes.<\/p>\n
